Do you have experience with functional fitness and Olympic weightlifting? We would love to have you join us for a complimentary class to see if Slate is a good fit for you!

Programs

At the heart of our program is functional fitness—training that prepares your body for everyday tasks and activities by utilizing natural movements like squatting, pulling, pushing, lifting, and jumping. These movements are essential for daily life. By improving functional fitness, we help everyone—from athletes to grandparents—move better, feel stronger, and stay active for life.

Strength Training is a key pillar of our program, building the foundation for lifelong health and independence. Our approach emphasizes practical benefits—like core stability and joint health—over simply increasing muscle size.

Metabolic Conditioning further enhances your energy systems, improving your ability to perform better in both workouts and daily activities. These workouts are tailored to all levels, designed to optimize metabolism, burn fat, and support overall fitness goals.

Our program incorporates a variety of movements to build well-rounded fitness efficiently. You’ll train with bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups, gymnastic skills such as pull-ups and handstands, Olympic weightlifting techniques, and cardio staples like running, rowing, and biking. This diverse approach not only keeps training engaging but also ensures balanced development while reducing the risk of overuse injuries.

Another cornerstone of our programming is HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). HIIT involves short bursts of intense effort followed by rest, offering a highly effective and time-efficient way to improve fitness. The benefits included burning more calories in less time, boosting metabolism for hours after the workout, and enhancing fat loss and muscle gain.

We believe fitness is for everyone, and our programming reflects this commitment.

Our Functional Strength program focuses on quality movement to develop motor control, strength, and hypertrophy. While rooted in traditional strength principles, these sessions incorporate controlled pacing to promote intentionality and precision in every movement. The slower pace and deliberate exercises are designed to enhance everyday functionality and overall strength.

Our coaches will  guide you through each part of the class—from warm-up to strength and conditioning—ensuring that the programming is structured, accessible, and adaptable for all fitness levels.

If you haven’t tried a Functional Strength class yet, now’s the time! It offers a refreshing change of pace from our usual Strength & Conditioning classes, giving your body the chance to focus on control and quality.

As a USA Weightlifting (USAW) affiliated gym, we are committed to providing expert coaching and a supportive environment for lifters of all levels. Our Olympic Weightlifting class focuses on refining and improving technique in the Clean and Jerk and Snatch.

In addition to primary lifts, the class incorporates specific accessory work to address muscle imbalances, strengthen weaker areas, and support joint stability. This helps improve technique, overcome training plateaus, and reduce the risk of injury while building strength for heavier lifts.

Whether you’re new to weightlifting or have years of experience, this class is designed to help you elevate your performance and achieve your lifting goals.

HYROX training combines running with functional strength and conditioning to create a well-rounded program that builds strength, endurance, and overall performance. By integrating foundational strength work with aerobic conditioning, athletes develop the ability to move efficiently under fatigue while improving both physical and mental resilience.

HYROX-style training uses simple, effective movements such as carries, sled work, lunges, rowing, and bodyweight exercises. These movements challenge strength, coordination, core stability, and cardiovascular fitness, making it an efficient and accessible training method with measurable progress over time.

Our HYROX classes include a mix of strength development, skill work, and conditioning, with programming that varies to develop well-rounded fitness. Workouts are scalable for all fitness levels, and you do not need to be training for a race or complete an onboarding to participate. Whether your goal is to compete or simply improve your strength and conditioning, HYROX training at Slate will help you build capacity, confidence, and durability.

Blending the power of breath with dynamic movement, our yoga class is designed specifically for lifters looking to enhance their strength training with improved mobility, balance, and body awareness. Each session guides you through a vinyasa-style flow that complements your lifting routine while promoting flexibility, injury prevention, and effective recovery.

Our unique sequences are crafted to engage both the mind and body, offering opportunities to refine technique, deepen practice, and achieve new fitness goals. The advanced variations of poses challenge your strength, but we also provide modifications and scaling options, so every participant—regardless of experience—can benefit and grow.

Our Slate Silvers program is designed specifically for adults 60+ and focuses on safe, effective training to help you build strength, resilience, and confidence so you can stay active and independent for years to come. Our workouts focus on maintaining and building muscle mass, increasing bone density, and improving balance, coordination, and agility to reduce the risk of falls and injury. You’ll enhance mobility, joint health, and cardiovascular fitness to support overall well-being and a more vibrant, capable life. By practicing functional movements—like getting up from the floor, carrying groceries, or climbing stairs—you’ll move more easily and confidently in everyday life. Best of all, you’ll train in a fun, safe, and inclusive community designed specifically for older adults.

Take a step beyond group classes to pursue your individual goals with a dedicated coach.
